Links
The Helmholtz KG Web UI represents connections between entities through links. These links allow you to navigate between records within the Knowledge Graph and access external resources.
Link Behavior
Internal links
Internal links point to other records within the Helmholtz KG. They are embedded in fields such as Title, Name, or related entity references. Selecting an internal link opens the corresponding Detail page within the Web UI.
External links ↗
External links point to resources outside the Helmholtz KG, such as external repositories, registries, or web pages. They are indicated by an arrow icon (↗) and open in a new browser tab or window.
External links are primarily found in the following fields:
- URL
- Alternate Identifier
- Semantic Type
Links to the Storage API are displayed as generated identifiers (hash-based values) rather than descriptive labels.
Helmholtz KG identifiers
Each record contains one or more identifiers shown in the following fields:
- Identifier
- Alternate Identifier
The Identifier field contains the primary identifier of the record. This is either:
- an external persistent identifier (e.g. DOI, ORCID, Wikidata, ISNI), reused from the source data, or
- a Helmholtz KG-generated identifier, using the namespace
http://purls.helmholtz-metadaten.de/helmholtzkg/, created when no external identifier is available.
The Alternate Identifier field contains additional identifiers from external systems. All identifiers are stable and uniquely identify a record within the Helmholtz KG.
Share
The Share button is available on result cards and on the Detail page. It copies a direct link to the corresponding Detail page in the Helmholtz KG.
‼️ Note: The Share link points to the KG view of the record. Links to the original resource can be found in fields such as URL or Alternate Identifier.
